Become a 211 Call Specialist Hotline Volunteer!Training Workshops Starting July 8th211 SLO Hotline Volunteers form the core of our service to the community. Ranging in age from 18 to 80, they bring a diversity of experience and skills, and share a common interest in helping others. Be the Voice on the Other End of the LineAs a 211 SLO Hotline Volunteer, you will be trained to help staff the County’s only 24-hour hotline and will make a difference in the lives of youth, seniors, and families by helping to locate resources and support services. Volunteers learn the skills required to appropriately refer callers to community agencies and aid in diffusing crisis situations. Requirements
TrainingThe initial orientation training includes 20 hours of workshops plus mentoring with an experienced Volunteer. After the initial training phase, four hours a week of volunteer commitment is required. Volunteer day/times are flexible. We will work around your schedule! We encourage you to call and speak to us so we may explain our volunteer program to you in more detail. Please feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have. Volunteers needed answering non-Hotline calls 2-3 hours a week211 SLO Hotline is looking for volunteers to assist our organization with general administrative duties, which include scheduling, answering and routing calls, helping with standard administrative duties. Shifts are available weekdays and this non-paying position is available on a volunteer basis only. This is a great job training opportunity and a chance to give back to your community by volunteering at a local non-profit serving only SLO County. This particular position is not for answering the 211 Hotline. If you're interested in training to take Hotline calls, training is provided free of charge and sessions start Wednesday, July 8th.
