Get On The line:
2-1-1 SLO Hotline Calling for Volunteers
San Luis Obispo – 2-1-1 SLO Hotline is looking for volunteers to answer our new 2-1-1 information referral telephone lines to begin in November 2007.
If you like talking on the phone, are compassionate, a good listener, and have four hours of free time each week, then you are the person we are looking for!
The hours are very flexible, the volunteer position requires no prior experience and the position provides a valuable local service.
This is a perfect volunteer position for a retired adult, an adult student or a stay at home mom looking for time away from home, to talk with the public, and in return, provide a important community service.
Last year volunteers responded to more than 10,000 calls. Now with the installation of the new 2-1-1 telephone system, SLO Hotline expects the call volume to double!
New call volunteers are welcome at anytime. Training takes place at the 2-1-1 SLO Hotline office, within the City of San Luis Obispo. The next training classes begin October 13 & 16 2007.
Beginning in November 2007, anyone In San Luis Obispo County can call the new free 2-1-1 phone line to receive information related to social services, including everything from senior service or health service to questions about finding child care.
For the past 38 years SLO Hotline has been operating a 24/7 phone service to provide similar information and will be the local organization providing the 2-1-1 service.
Contact Mike Bossenberry, 2.1.1 SLO Hotline’s Program Manager, at 544-6016 ext.13, for more information about becoming a 2.1.1 SLO Hotline volunteer or access our website at: www.slohotline.org
